OK, but tommy bar too short By: Banquos Ghost, on March 26, 2015 Pros: Cons: "Good enough bit of kit, but although the chuck accepted the tap for an M8 Helicoil, the tommy bar is too short, and you don't get enough leverage. You can extend the bar out one side for more leverage, but that's no good when tapping a hole, and you want to keep the torque centralised to avoid breaking the tap. I'll need to find a longer bar next time I use it. Ratchet useful when withdrawing the tap, but may encourage the inexperienced to use it when tapping, instead of backing off to break the chip. |
