I chose this partly for the above, but also due to its power (lumens), lack of gimmicks (ie SOS signalling which some competitors have), and probably most of all the secure "off" setting (no need to remove the batteries) as I often worry that a headtorch will have switched itself on in the rucksack hours before I need to use it.
